Toni Morrison was born Febuary 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio. Her Mother and Father were Ramah and George Wofford. She grew up being told folk stories by her parents, this in turn was brought into her writing when she grew older. Toni Morrison first went to college at Howard University and earned her B.A. in English, but she wasn't done there, she then entered Cornell University where she majored in arts. After that she became a professor at Texas Sothern University. Her Career in writing started back when she was at Howard university, where she wrote short stories, one being the early version of The Bluest Eye. Around that time she met her ex-husband Harold Morrison, they had two kids Harold and Slade. They were married for awile, but they divorced in 1964. Toni Morrison won many awards for her books, like a nobel prize for literature. She is considered one of the greatest African Amercan writers of her time.
